“My toughest gig was to a group of hostile year nines in a remote area school. Without saying a word they told me loud and clear that they were not interested in any stupid stories. I plunged in head first with an Irish Ballad, then launched into a twenty minute story called The Seventh Princess. The arms gradually uncrossed and the students leaned forward. By the second story the room was still and alive with listening, at the story’s conclusion all the students wanted was another story. ”
